The stereo set is not a fold-down, and it is not a second purchase either.

The field says the stereo version carries identical material to the 3D version and comes with it. The delivery agrees: the 3D Surround offer carries 24 archives, five of which are the same stereo parts the stereo offer delivers on its own — counted off the two offers. What the card never states, in either tech-spec table or in its specification block, is a sound count.

At a Glance

  • 244 files, 122 files, 366 together The 3D set, the stereo set, and the combined figure the specification block carries. 244 plus 122 is 366, added here
  • 88.4 GB across 244 files About 371 MB per 3D file — the division is computed here. The stereo files divide to about 186 MB
  • Eight channels named Lower layer L, R, Ls, Rs. Upper layer Lh, Rh, LSh, RSh. The card capitalises the surround pair one way below and another way above
  • No sound count anywhere Files and size are given in three places on this card. A sound count appears in none of the three
  • Thirty-one keywords, closed list BIRDS through WOODPECKER, listed and stopped. Eight of the thirty-one name wildlife and four name a time of day
  • Waves, canyon and cave are in it A winter library whose keyword list also carries WAVES, CANYON, CAVE and MELTING — named here rather than tidied out

02What The Field Namesthirty-one keywords, and what the prose adds
Snow, by surfaceSnow hitting rock, grass, ice or water — four surfaces, named by the field, which calls them direct captures rather than foley
Ice under stressLakes groaning as they contract, and semi-frozen water shifting under a fragile crust
WildlifeBIRDS, FOX, GEESE, JAY, OWL, RAVEN, WOLVES, WOODPECKER — eight entries in the keyword list, and the prose names wolves, ravens and foxes again
Times of dayMORNING, MIDDAY, EVENING, NIGHT — four, which is what turns a location into a shooting day
Water that is not frozenCREEK, RIVER, WATERFALL, WAVES and MELTING sit in the same list as ICE and FROZEN. The field does not separate them, so this page does not either
Where it was recordedAcross Scandinavia and central Europe, with gear the field says was rated for minus fifteen
Stereo inside 3DThe field says the stereo version is included with the 3D Surround set, and the 3D offer’s 24 archives include the five stereo parts — counted off the delivery

Winter is heard in what stops. A frozen lake under tension and a fox across an empty field read as winter because of the quiet around them, and quiet has to be recorded long and kept uncut — which is what files running about 371 MB each, computed here from 88.4 GB over 244, are paying for.
