Medieval Life captures the manifold sound atmosphere of medieval places: farms with cackling chicken, trotting horse hooves, old doors, an axe chopping wood — and in the cities and castles, echoes of distant persons, shouting street vendors, rattling iron chains and the constant hammering of the blacksmith.
Most sounds were recorded in authentic medieval environments in Germany — heritage sites, ruins and castles, and farmers markets around the cathedral in Mainz, built around 975 A.D. No traffic noise, no synthetic reverb: open, believable historic backgrounds right from the start.
