Woods of the Wild is a freshly, individually recorded woodwind section — triple tongues, rips and trills, with articulations written not only for the woodwinds but for piccolo, alto flute and English horn as well.

Mallets and other wooden drums come with it. Every woodwind was recorded in three dynamic layers, and each sample was hand-edited to morph smoothly and seamlessly from one layer into the next.

Recording a woodwind section on its own is a decision about blend. Three dynamic layers hand-edited to morph into each other, and a legato engine that reads staccato apart from true legato with no keyswitch, are both bets that the person at the keyboard will be phrasing rather than programming.
