The Contrabass Panduri is a modern innovation, modified from the traditional Panduri to give Georgian concert folk performance a low-register voice. The Tanbur is an ancient long-necked lute whose drones and picks run from the Balkans, Turkey and Arabia to Persia, India and Central Asia.
