Nordic Spheres is a Kontakt instrument that builds vast frozen soundscapes from sound-effects content, granular synthesis and percussive sounds — four independent layers, each with its own ADSR, arpeggiator and effects.

The source recordings come from Mats Lundgren and Amina Hocine of Pole Position in Sweden. The field calls the instrument the sonic sibling of Time Textures and Chroma, and links to both itself.

Two of the four layers are granular and two are not, and that split is the instrument. Density, starting position and timing shape the texture without swapping the source; the Hits, Particles and Sustains layers stay ordinary enough to keep a part playable underneath them.
