Felt pianos are made by adding felt between the hammers and the strings, which gives a more delicate touch for soft and intimate pieces. This one was recorded with five round robins in three microphone positions, with nine ambiance presets to start from.

HostThis product requires a FULL version of Native Instruments’ KONTAKT. The free Kontakt Player is not sufficient — it only runs the instrument in demo mode

Felt does not soften a piano, it uncovers it. With the strike damped, what reaches the microphone is the frame, the dampers and the player’s hands — which is why the mechanics knob here is an instrument control and not a noise gate.
