Fragments – Modern Percussion builds rhythms out of sounds that are not usually in a percussion library: everyday noises and non-traditional percussive sources, every one of them recorded in twelve round robins.
Three sequencers drive three independent sound slots. Each carries two randomisation controls — one lays out the initial pattern, the other shakes it up on every turn — and a Density control that fills the silent steps with hits at varying velocities.
At a Glance
- 12 round robins on every sound with up to 5 velocity layers, depending on the source
- Three slots, three sequencers Bass, Snare and Fragments, each independent of the others
- 23 sounds itemised the field names 3 in the Bass slot, 3 in the Snare slot and 17 in the Fragments slot — counted from its own list
- Four sources named Wood, Metal, Mechanical and Body, plus a User slot for a sound you drop in yourself
- Density on the modwheel one control carries the pattern from minimal to crowded
- Over 100 presets the field says “over”, so the figure is a floor and not a total
Content & Detail
Twelve round robins is the whole argument. A tick recorded once is a sample and announces itself by the fourth bar; recorded twelve times it stops doing that. Add a Density control that fills the gaps at velocities you did not choose, and found noise turns into a pattern instead of a loop.
