ReCenter automatically repairs off-centre stereo recordings while keeping the original stereo width — an invaluable time-saver and a tool for professional post-production.

It constantly analyses an incoming stereo signal and dynamically rotates it to the centre, or to a given angle, without altering the stereo width. Tedious panning automation becomes obsolete, so you can focus on your creative flow.

At a Glance

  • Keeps the width balance without resorting to mono or a compromised image
  • Fully automatic analyses and processes the signal in real time
  • L/R and M/S both common input formats are decoded
  • Four bands multiband mode for more complicated signals
  • Mono filter below a set frequency, for low-end control
  • Free iLok account machine licence or USB dongle

Content & Detail

01The Problem It Solveswhy it exists
The situationPointing a stereo microphone accurately at a source gets harder the further away the source is; the result is a recording with a constantly shifting centre
The old fixManually adjusting and automating the panning across the whole recording — time-consuming and most often ineffective
What it does insteadContinuously analyses the directionality of a stereo or M/S signal and rotates it to a target angle in real time, without narrowing the image
What you setHow hard, how fast and how precisely it should adjust your signal — that is all
02Key Featuresseven of them
CentringDynamically create convenient stereo images; once the centre is restored, precisely alter the image
InputStereo or M/S signals
Low endMono filter below a chosen frequency
Heavy dutyMultiband mode processes four frequency bands individually for a more precise output
Output shapingWiden or narrow the centred image, and shift the output angle left or right
Use asDesigned for maximum effectiveness simply as an insert effect
03Use Casesfour of them
Field recordingsCorrect any stereo recording where the microphone angle was off
PerformersDynamically centre a vocal artist who moved around the stage while performing
Hard directional effectsCentre stereo whooshes, drive-bys, fly-bys and similar

04Licensingbefore you buy
RequiredReCenter requires a free iLok account
Machine licenseFree. Deposit the licence on the computer running the software — no USB device needed. All you need is a free account at ilok.com and the free iLok license manager
USB dongleIf you already own a 2nd generation or newer iLok USB device, deposit the licence on it instead. Many plug-in makers use iLok, so one device serves them all
Not for the sound packsiLok is NOT required for the regular BOOM Library sound FX packs — only for the Interactive plug-ins

A stereo image that drifts is not a mixing problem, it is a geometry problem. Panning fights it one keyframe at a time; rotating the field fixes the cause, which is why the width survives the repair.
