Named after the echo-rich Matra Mountains in North Hungary, Matra is a delay plug-in built on a dual delay engine.

Its Spread feature is a delay-on-delay concept with a dedicated Wash control, which blends reverb and grains into the delays. Around it sit resonant filters, two distortion units, a Wow/Chorus, stereo imaging and a tone EQ — and a Smart Random button when none of that is the point yet.

A delay is a clock, and what a delay plug-in adds is an argument with that clock. Spread puts a second delay inside the first, so the argument happens between two echoes rather than between an echo and a reverb bus downstream of it.
